Facing the Giants

Hey guys! guess what? We're screening Facing the Giants on the 3rd of May and it is a good opportunity to invite your friends because this is a great show and I personally was really moved and totally inspired by it.

It is a story of faith and courage. It is also a story of miracles.

So start inviting your school friends and also start inviting those not in youth to come see it.

1 cents

Hi people, thus far, we collected the amount (located on the right hand side) a total of RM67.20 Which some say its not enough, but it is good enough to buy at least 12 meals with that amount. Nothing is too small!

Let's keep collecting as there is no date given yet by Bank Negara to stop collecting them from us. So keep collecting! proverbs also got say 'little little long long become mountain'

Thank you for those who contributed and keep on contributing! keep em coming!

Teamwork Lesson

Watch this before reading the text

I ran across this video while browsing YOU TUBE and this is something I have never seen before (Maybe you have...) I love National Geographic, Discovery but Nothing like this I have seen. I thought usually they would just abandon whoever that got caught as food.

As blunt as it is, this serves as a lesson be in life or in youth group. We need to work as a team to get something done in whichever area. Of course we should not stray away (like the family from the herd) in the 1st place. But when just one is in trouble, the trouble is shared among everyone.

Notice that when the buffaloes came back they were hunters although they are the weaker party of the food chain, they became the hunter because they stick together Leaving no space for the lion to run or escape. And Notice that when they charge against the big cats they did not went alone but with a few strong bulls. That's how we should be when we're having problems bigger than us.

As comical as my imagination gets, I would love to see what happen during the 'disappearance' of the buffaloes. It is almost human isn't it? to go and seek help... This youth group should be that as well. When you're facing problems, of course you seek God's help and guidance but if you need humans, come to us, tell us and we're not perfect but more brains are better than 1 brain.

The Family that sticks together grow together

College Ministry

Hello fellow Grypers

1stly I apologize for the lack of updates on this blog. Yes as we all know before that we are starting the college ministry. The official launch date is going to be in the 1st week of April this year.

I know, many have doubts and plenty of why this? why that? why can't we...? and what is going to happen? what will happen... ?

Ok... we have said this before and I am saying it again. Part of the reason why we are moving our is because our age are growing however not our numbers it is hard to actually cater and reach to both high school and college level. I guess you can picture this as the cases are similar. It could be like asking the youth to join children in their service not as helpers but as regular members. I am not stating that the youth are like children, but the situation is similar.

I know we have been saying we are "splitting". That word is indeed a very negative remark and sadden people. And we're sorry for that. Don't view it as we are really splitting the group up but rather having the college to move on to a new ministry and began reaching out to college people respectively. In times to come (which I don't see it as very long) we will have to look into young adults ministry when our college one explodes.

Yes the group might be smaller in both the college and the youth. But who say small groups can't do big things? Do not let the numbers pull our spirit down. As to what will we be doing? For the youth, nothing changes we still have service every Saturday. The college and the youth are not both separated bodies but it is still functioning as one. We will still work together in activities and sorts.

As much as I would love to answer your questions, I hope so to, If you still have any questions, please come and ask me. To strip it all down, we are very nervous and shaken as well because we really do not know what outcome would be like because we too have never been in this kind of position. But truly we felt that it is a right thing to do for the benefit of all.

Please always keep us and this thing into prayer and as prepared as we can get we are still not sure the outcome would be like. Do play a part as well in being more active as nothing is successful if everyone chooses to sit back and fold their arms and just see what is going to happen. Give extra 10% of your effort and when you did, give another 10 push yourself to the limit and I can guarantee you that you'll not regret

God bless.
John

1st YA for 2008

Goodbye 2007 and Welcome 2008! Yeah, we’ve come to another new year and I would say that many are looking forward for this year as 2007 was kinda ok ok la for YA (…to me la).

Our first YA for 2008.. I would say it’s not really that exciting BUT it’s a meeting that was quite close to the heart to me (dunno what am I saying). I felt peace and comfort throughout the meeting and praise God for His presence was there and moving gently among His children.

Worship… I leave it to God to comment la. Testimonies were more of school stuff since schools have just started. Yeah, by the way…Welcome to YA the form Ones! Pray that you guys can energise the YA more…hehe. We had an interesting game session where we Bang others with our powerful pistols made out of our own little hands (some called them machine guns coz they have Big hands...haha).

The preaching by Pastor Peter for this 1st YA of the year was timely gila… Pastor spoke on spirituality in youths. He mentioned that nowadays many, especially the adults doubt the Christian youths are spiritual but he said indeed there many spiritual youths who are really radical for God despite of those who love to go to church just to have fun with their peers.

However, Pastor warned us to always be careful of bad companies and pressures from the world that would affect our spirituality and eventually strain our relationship with God. All these things may take place in our lives and yet we don’t feel it’s happening until it’s too late because sometimes we tend to compromise our faith little by little and we think it’s ok.

So I would say everyone of us really need to walk closely with God in order to stay spiritually strong and not to forget that we always need to ask God for wisdom so that we’re able to make the Right decisions.

Yeah, before I end… Happy Belated B’day Amy Chong! and Sorry that Felicia thought you’re seating for PMR this year…haha. Ok la that’s all…God Bless!

Love,
Edmund

Don't compromise

by Edmund

Pastor Gideon's visit to YA meeting last Saturday was really a blessing to the grypers....which i would say that. I always got excited when a guest speaker comes bcoz want to know what he or she will be preaching or sharing. Pastor Gideon's preaching last Saturday was taken from the book of Daniel, chapter 1. (Don't know why these past few months we've been ministered with Daniel chapter 1 again and again). I didn't jot down any notes bcoz I just wanted to really pay attention to his preaching.

Well, Pastor Gideon was preaching about how Daniel and his three friends kept themselves pure to the Lord even though they were taken captive by the Babylonians. And bcoz of their obedience towards God, God had caused them to become outstanding among the Babylonians and to be qualified to enter the king's service of Babylon. The message was all about living uprightly and not to compromise our Christian faith though we are living in a corrupted world or a world where it is not according to God's way.

At first, I told myself ok, not bad... it was a message that everyone could relate to and it is something that we Christians really have to look into. However later on, it was Ps Gideon's life testimony that really touched me. He shared about how his life was turned around by God, from a really messed up teenage guy to a really successful person. It was amazing to know how God can change us no matter how messed up we are if we surrender to Him and believe that He is in control. God will also bless His children abundantly if they choose to honour Him and not to compromise their Christian way of living.

Though I have listened to many great testimonies from Christians in the past, still I'm not tired to listen of how different people's lives have changed because of God. They always remind me that God is so faithful, so forgiving and so loving and He only offers what is best for us. All God wants is our faithfulness towards Him...that's it.

I want to end this blog by saying this...let's choose to stand for God no matter what for He is worthy after what He has done for us on the cross. Okay the end. By the way, frisbee rocks!

Take care and God bless!

Guest Speaker

Hey Grypers,

Just to remind you that we're having Pastor Gideon Lee - Youth Pastor of Glad Tidings Assembly Klang as our guest speaker for this Saturday's meeting (6 October 2007). So remember to keep that in prayer and invite your friends okay. I believe we're going to have a great time with him... and God.

See ya and God bless!
