Code Red

On behalf of the church and GRYP I would like to thank Peter Wong for helping us get this particular CD. Yep this is our Christmas Play and this item is as good as obselete. we have this in cassete which was like 10 years ago.

But all of a sudden the cassete just failed on us. So I decided to call in friends from the states to get it and rip it to mp3. and that's where Peter came into the scene. He did extra mile of making sure that the cd reaches in time and transfered. Thank You once again.

That give all the more reason why everyone should come and see the play because this is really something AWESOME! =) Be there early so that you don't miss the best seats... 7.30pm is the event and 23rd is the date...

Alright Take Care.. Till Then...

Thank You Note

To Grypers, Wow ! The blog is in orange.Ok, so be Bright for God ! I am delighted to know that Grypers has its own blog. I never knew gryp had a blog until i went for the night rally of huge camp and i saw the camping booklet. I browsed it and towards the back i saw an advertisment page of gryp. i read it and that was where i saw grypers@blogspot.com.
As it was my first time viewing the blog, i must say that i had input from the writtings of other grypers.it has been nearly 2 months, i have not been attending youth. A big thank you to those of you who posted the keywords for the past youth sermons. One of my all time fovourites is x-ace by Issac.
With this Gryp blog , i no longer feel that i am faraway from youth. i can still know what's latest in the gryp community and events. As i will be leaving for overseas in a month's time,i will not forget this web address. Obviously when i am there(Australia), i will be missing you guys and my cure for missing gryp will be viewing the blog.
Continue to keep the blog active with some wrtting and etc. Finally just one comment - It would be good if gryp could upload a calender. Then it would be useful for those grypers living overseas to know what's the latest happening for that chosen year. For an instance, when is youth sunday and etc. !
With love and regards,
Wee Eastlyn

UNITED!!

written by: John

UNITED UNITED UNITED... well the time has come for us to stand united. And after a long wait, they are finally here. the Hillsong United, (Christian Worship Band from Australia). God forgive me that I thought it is almost look too good to be true... But true to their words, Joel Houston and his band came and ministered to us.

I prefer Joel Houston compare to Marty Samson haha I know most people would say MARTY!! but to me Joel is more of a leader kinda guy. If you have seen Marty and Joel maybe you'll say the same thing. Marty is more like a stonner really.

But anyways... they came and they sang like more than 15 songs in 5 albums... haha that's like awesome, which really went beyond my expectation. thank them for that. I am that those who went experience something good, different and I hope that they have really learn a thing or two from that concert, I know I have.

20 Dollars well spent, Well, they have said that they are coming back, although I don't know when, but those who missed it this time, cry-not! because they'll be back.

For more information about United Band Go to http://www.hillsongunited.com

Grypday

hey folks! eager to know what happened last saturday?? lol i hope there're at least afew viewers of this blog yea! okay, firstly, i want to mention how awesome was last friday prayer meeting! God's presence was so obvious within the church sanctuary. people were being moved by the Holy Spirit. and soon ALL those who came for prayer, went to the altar as a symbol of rededicating our lives again to our Jehovah. it was way way waayyy awesome!! haha, ok!

so what happened last GRYP-day?? (btw, now for us GRYPers, its officially declared that saturdays are now known as GRYP-day!!)

started of with prayer (we no longer pray in the praying room, but at the main sanctuary) and two newcomers were with us (happy to have you guys, Yvonne and Wai Men!) then it was worship, led by my own cifu- John lol. we people were jumping and dancing for the Lord and we had a great time praising and worshiping. so, it was games time!! called the 'big squeeze' game. the youth were instructed to squeeze themselves together to form whatever objects that the gamemasters said. example:a platform, high heel sandal,a cupboard. well, sad to say it AGAIN, guys won over the girls AGAIN and AGAIN and over over AGAIN haha what can i say? the guys are just getting more creative and lame each second lol. soon the game ended and weeeeee sermon time!! this is afew pointers from it...

A NEW ATTITUDE.
*Matthew 5:6-8
There must be a difference between the believers and non-believers.

Three attitudes:
1/ upward
--a change in our desire, hunger for righteousness.
# a hunger that motivates us for action.
2/ outward
--showing mercy to those who needs it.
3/ inward
--pure in heart (sincere)
# you can't change the surroundings, but you can change the inside.

God is with us

p/s:hope to see you guys this coming GRYP-day for those who missed last week's meeting!!

Hillsong United!!!

After the long wait, and I for one doubted that Hillsong/United would come to this land, but the wait is no more, HILLSONG UNITED will be in KL this coming 24th November!

United is the one wrote most of the songs we sing in youth services all over Malaysia...

All you have to do is pay RM 20/= and you'll get to see them LIVE at SIB KL, it is something not to be missed, if you do, that'll be too bad, there is also a workshop that goes before the concert at 4-6pm which you have to pay RM 10 more, but it'll be worth it... I've been to hillsong, I know! =)

Today is the day that we finally get to reveal day for angel and human/mortal game..FUN!!

Each person in YA are given a "human" and they are to play a role of a secret angel and our task is to do good to his/her human..giving pretty stuff, sweet msgs..blabla.. so everyone in YA were involved in the game the game lasted for one whole month.

The funniest bit was to hear all the sweet stuff their angel did or wat type of angel they have or the weirdest thing that they gave..In the end all was unexpected to know who their angels were.

Lastly, The best angel goes to PETER ANG..aged 13, one of the youngest boy in YA...he's quiet but who knws he's sweet haha... let us be a good angel too... :)

We're now having a new program, it is called "MaxIS" (Maximum Impact Session) Devotional group..a new program in YA..sort of we have small groups discussing about our devotional thoughts and helps in our spiritual growth as well... check out the pictures...not much pics taken coz battery was low..hehe.. next time, will have more interesting stuff...and pictures...wait for more and keep log in to this page ppl!!!!

X-ace

written by: Issac Lim

Life is a race
That i need to face
Sometimes it's tough to keep up the pace
And I get lost without a trace
I want peaceI need peace
The Prince of peace
Given me peace through His grace
True peace can I now embrace

By filling the X spot in the X- ace, life is viewed in various perspectives.

1.No doubt life is a R-ace. A race is what drives us to the finish line. To finish life on top. To fulfill and achieve the best you can possibly able to. Don't race for nothing, know what race it is, why are u racing, and who r u racing for?

2. All of us need to F-ace it. Every breath we take supplies us the air for us to work our muscles and continue racing. Who gave us the breath of life?

3. Nobody likes to fail, but sometimes it is through falling we can learn to be stronger. There is no need to be ashamed of failing and hide oneself without any T-race. Everyone goes through it. In our weakness, He is magnified. Don't worry when u fail, coz He never fails.

4. P-eace is what we lack, what we want, and what we need. Men look for peace in theirwallets. But is not money the cause of unrest?? True peace can only be given and not bought. What is true peace? Only the Prince of Peace can give you true peace and rest needed for this race.

5. All we need to do is Embr-ace. True peace is experienced if one would only receive it and embrace Jesus. Yes, embrace Him. Don't just know Him, embrace with all your heart.

It is true that God is omnipresent but if u want to feel the amplification of His presence and if u are curious who this Prince of peace is.. come on over to GRYP youth alive :)

forgiven and not forsaken,
Issac

How to walk successfully

written by:- Cassie =)

YA started off with prayer in the nursery room....i don't know about you guys, but for me,YA is not complete without the prayer meeting beforehand, try joining the prayer and maybe one day,we'll be large enough and we'll be no longer praying in the nursery room =)...prayer was awesome..we prayed for God's protection...though it was gloomy outside..the weather and all...pretty cold inside..but worship was full of fire...worship was lead by *drum roll* Christine, cheers for the shorty!...i actually jump...i DID jump joe,so you see,i'm cool =p....(oh btw,no offense to those who didn't jump)

then off to games...games was really fun that day...sorry for anyone who had to miss it haha...we had fun watching the guys lose to the girls...muahahaha..we played human tic-tac-toe...and it was silly of Quan wei to come up with mathemathics equations to confuse us..okay fine,2+2x2 IS 6!...but overall...good job to Quan wei and really,i don't mind playing it again...beating the guys again...=p and oh...now we have the "secret angels" mailbox thingy...so reminder to all "angels"...remember to do your thing =p (ooooo i can't wait to get something <----see,example of wrong mentality...should be ooooo i can't wait to bless someone =) ,don't i just learn fast? ;) )

woohooo...today's the first time i hear bro john share...though he said he had done it 3 times already...simple bible verse..but quite meaningful...proverbs 3:5-6..."Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him,and He will make your paths straight"....what John said is true..it's hard to trust someone that's not physical nor visible..that's why trust comes only with faith..."don't act smart"..and we should always put God first in all the choices we make, and i was only joking about "Lady's choice"...sorry John =)

and so...YA ended...looking forward to next week

p/s:i was also only joking when i said "yay,Pastor Nirhal not here"....i miss him hehe"

God does not reveals His will for our lives to us by handling us blueprints or manual books, but by opening a long scroll, bit by bit, everyday"

okay..it was something like that la...with a few alteration here and there...=)

Devo Thought

written by: Jennifer Low

Hey ppl,

Just thought share something that came across during devo this week from the passage in Numbers 9:15-20. It's about how the Lord lead Moses and the children of Isreal in the wilderness using the pillar of cloud during the day and fire during the night. What actually struck me is this...

"...20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the LORD's command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the LORD's command they encamped, and at the LORD's command they set out. They obeyed the LORD's order, in accordance with his command through Moses..."

The Israelites followed the cloud/fire wherever it went. Because of that, they could not settle down permenantly, everything that they built/set up was temporal. They had no idea what the future was or when they were to leave again. Somedays, it could mean setting up their tents and then tearing it down again the next day. They just trusted God, their Leader to lead them.

Sound really 'mar fan' eh? This is a good encouragement especially for some of us who are constantly involved in ministries in church. Sometimes we think that we have already done so much that we can't go any further or everything seems to be never ending 'doing' or 'going.'

But our lives here on earth are meant to be like that...like the children of Israel... not being able to settle down permanently and be comfortable till we reach the 'promised land.' It's never our purpose to live & be happy here but to strive further in whatever we do for God.We may not know what is in store in the future but we have to continue to do His work and trusting in Him to be our Leader... Our final destination is in Heaven and not on earth :)

Was a good encouragement to me, hope it is too for u!

Be cool, Christ Cool!

FEARFUL or FEARLESS?

written by: Christine Soh
hey pips!
alright, today is saturday! happy day, cheerful day, cool day, happening day and go-church day? lol alright, today we started off with prayer at 2.30pm. as usual, Toefl led the prayer and some of the youth people join in unity to pray for exams-assignments-healings-Pastor Nirhal-unity among YA-grypers' spiritual growth-journey mercy for those went to concert tonight.soon it was 3pm!
officially YA started! we started off with games. Quan Wei led games and he introduced a pretty LAME and old school game. lol its about paper-sccisors-stone and a mixture of expanding both of your legs? well, it was definitely FUN and LAME yet COOL? hehe *thumbs up to qw.
Joe came up and started with 'warming us up'. its time for praise and worship! yippeee! it was an awesome time of worship and its not just about great music, but all that matters are the hearts of all the young people praising and worshiping GOD. and the worship team had practised and done their part so that today's worship will go on well, and definitely as they honour GOD, GOD had blessed them with the talents needed =)
After that, john chaired the service. and some youth came up to testify of GOD's blessing in their lives and today mostly its about GOD's healing over all kinds of sicknesses lol. including me! GOD had healed me of my twisted neck, thanks GOD!
and Pastor Nirhal preached as we listened attentively (pretty sure we ALL did learnt something) ok, i'm not gona write the whole sermon here, but here're the some good pointers...- FEAR- fear can be our motivater- our main motivater? the fear of GOD- use what we have, and we'll be blessed with morealright! thats basically it..what happened in YA today.. overall we had fun and learnt and we will apply it in our lives, amen? =)*GOD bless...

Indescribable

written by: Pastor Nirhal
photos by: Jeff Chua

Saturday - 19 August 2006. Would we reach 60 persons or not? Well, I had come to church already decided that even if we had just a few newcomers, and although we did not reach the target of 60 persons - we would still screen the DVD "Indescribable"

Well - as it turns out - we recorded a pretty good attendance - 53 persons in all!! Woohoo.... highest for an average Saturday meeting - only like abt 11-12% short of our target ..... 88-89% in school is normally a distinction, yea? ;)

Also we saw at least 2 people indicate for salvation / rededication of life.... angels in Heaven were rejoicing!!! And so was I!!!

The fact was that because school holidays had started as well as college study break for some - there were a number of regulars who were not around - and still we managed to record this number!

Well, this shows that GRYP is capable of moving on with good crowds - inviting our friends to "come and see" what we are really apssionate about - on Saturdays!!!

For all those who took the effort to reach out & invite your friends whether they came or not - my deep thanks to you - your efforts are noted & recorded Up Above....

And better things are yet to come. Let's continue to attempt better & better thnings for our Master.... King Jesus!!!

written by: John

We had a great turn out yesterday (12.08.06) we have about 42 people yesterday and that was great! We had a great time of praise and worship lead by the "Shorty Roxx" gang leader, it was just amazing lah!!!!

we played the classic 7-up game.. everyone knows that game well I suppose. 1.2.3.4.5.6.7up!! but that game was so funny... coz the usual people who wouldn't normally lose in any game were losing big time... haha and the punishment?? everyone who lost have to pour water into mugs and those that made it spill have to drink 2 cup of water~ haha.. awesome..

of course preaching by Pastor Nirhal.. about community, and unity among the people la...

oh next week, we'll be screening one chun video.. THE INDESCRIBEABLE dvd... we will screen it if we touch 60 people, which is a fair challenge as they say.. so GUYS n GIRLS bring your friends all come to the service next saturday!!.. you would not want to miss it..

what's the video about?? some cool explaination of the galaxy and universe.. want to know how big the universe is? come to experience it!!!

GI-NORMOUS

Written by: Jason Soh

This week's YA was awesome! At first, during the discipleship class, a few of us were watching the video about God’s greatness.. GI-NORMOUS (GIGANTIC-ERNOMOUS). [[He Is MiGhTy To SaVe!]] That’s truly what God is! The preacher in the video showed a lot of pictures of the universe, and I was really amazed at the glory of God. Wow…. During prayer time, the presence of God was really felt in us.. Worship was cool, really cool. The games: musical chair. Quite lame rite? But it turned out fun. Keke.. Bunch of lame ppl.. The preaching was good. Pastor Nirhal (PN) preached about a life of GRYPers as a community. United we stand! We are ONE! Hehe… That’s about it, I guess. Sayonara!

YOUTH SUNDAY!!!

Written by John

July 16th marks a new generation forth coming... it is our yearly YOUTH SUNDAY, which means almost everything was done by our youth for that sunday service.

The highlight of this year is of course the GRYP band for praise and worship. Sure, some couple of old hits and some yet to be heard, but then still Christine, Quan Wei, Jason, Natalie, Jasmine, Toefl and XP did a marvelous job at amusing people. quite a number of people came up and say that they were very impress. So am I...

Then the day followed by song presentation by the older generation of youth. The band consist of myself, Joe, Chin Hoe, Jennifer, Andrew and Jeff. we did 2 old numbers - I can only imagine and What a friend I've found.

Then testimonies of individual start coming up, It was Toefl then followed by Natalie, Quan Wei and Debbie, they are all inspiring testimonies of their life, and how they are willing to keep the faith that they believed in.

It was followed by a short preaching by Pastor Nirhal and soon it was called as a day. Everyone did well for that day including our chairman - Johanan! well that's all, I posted a few picture below, just take a look at it. Adios...
